Dear Mr. John Q. President,
My employment tenure with Big Powerful Bank was based upon false and misleading information. Initially, I was recruited by Barbara L, a Vice President of your company, to apply for a job. Exceedingly excited and believing what she had told me, I applied and was hired into a program where I was required to pass a Series 6 and a Series 63 exam. Knowingly, I was offered the position without any financial or investment background and was led to believe that it did not matter. In a short two weeks for Series 6, and one plus weeks for Series 63, with a diminutive instruction period followed by a self-study program, I was thrown into circumstances requiring a complex understanding of investments and the often-ambiguous Federal and State laws surrounding such. Big Powerful Bank had simply put me in a position to FAIL. Moreover, while I spent every waking hour of every day, including weekends, attempting to understand the basics, not to mention the complicated material presented, it was not enough time. It was complicated because, as indicated, I had no prior education, training or experience with respect to investments or financial matters. It became obvious to me, after learning some facts, that Big Powerful Bank places unsuspecting candidates, like me, in a “sink or swim” environment to minimize their training and salary costs, regardless of the pain and suffering inflicted on the unwary aspirants you are preying on. This is a disgusting, insidious practice and you should be held accountable for it.
To further embarrass me, one of your managers, David R, sent an email (a copy of which is in my possession) to the people I was studying with informing them that I failed the Series 6 exam. The results of my exam were CONFIDENTIAL. As such, this was none of my coworkers business and only served to further humiliate and degrade me. I was so debased by this reprehensible and unprofessional action, I was unable to function for several days, affecting my ability to clearly study and function for the Series 63 exam. Interestingly, Big Powerful Bank management tried to cover up the email by forcing employees that had received to delete it from their folders. I am sure they will testify to this. Because of the extreme humiliation and fearful prior to the Series 63 exam, I contacted Melissa T in HR and asked if I would be fired if I did not pass. I was comforted when she told that I should stop by and “we” would simply “GO FORWARD”. Does that sound like I would be fired, absolutely not. Nevertheless, that is exactly what she did when I did not pass the Series 63.
In summary:
How can Big Powerful Bank, in all good conscious, knowingly create a situation placing people at such GRAVE risk to their health and mental wellbeing? SHAME ON YOU! Your actions clearly tag you as a reprehensible corporate citizen. You must be held accountable for your actions and provide me with a cushion so I can move forward.
My father, a former Vice President and officer of a Fortune 100 company, was shocked at your behavior. He could not believe your actions until I showed him the emails, the materials you expected me to learn in three short weeks, and described the events leading up to my termination. He explained why you engage in this “deceptive” corporate practice. Simply put, it yields Big Powerful Bank a high savings benefit by costing an absolute minimum for training, payroll and benefits. If the new employee fails, Big Powerful Bank’s investment is minimized; unfortunately, at the expense of the unsuspecting employee.
I need conclusion to this problem and expect to hear back from you within 15 days addressing, and with sufficient guarantee, your treatment of me. If not, I will take what you have done beyond the purview of binary resolution.
Disgusted by your conduct and deliberate unprofessionalism,
Ms. Injured Employee
